Non -profit social companies are much more than a labor market policy instrument – they are an economic factor. Around 200 companies at 500 locations offer jobs for 25,000 people in solid unemployment every year, employ 9,000 permanent employees: on the inside and carry out over 200,000 consultations annually to support people when returning to employment.
With an annual generation of around 500 million euros, they strengthen the economy and secure purchasing power in Austria’s regions. They close gaps that the market does not fill – and are therefore indispensable for a resilient business location. Especially in structurally weak regions, they are often the difference between emigration and new perspectives.
