Ten years of blue and yellow “star line-up” at the Cannes Film Festival

LR Teschl-Hofmeister: Lower Austrian regional wines and delicacies from the Lower Austrian agricultural schools represented at the film festival on the Côte d’Azur

St.Pölten (OTS) At the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which will take place from May 14th to 25th, 2024, the fine wines from the blue-yellow state wineries, along with the award-winning delicacies from the Lower Austrian agricultural schools, will once again be part of the program. In the pavilion of the Austrian Film Commission, wine, sparkling wine and delicacies from Lower Austria are served to filmmakers and festival guests. “This year, great directors such as Francis Ford Coppola, Paul Schrader, Yorgos Lanthimos and David Cronenberg are expecting an exciting film festival. Austria is there with the feature film debut ‘The Village Next to Paradise’ by Mo Harawe and the fine wines from the Lower Austrian wineries as well as the delicacies from the agricultural colleges on the Côte d’Azur,” emphasizes State Councilor for Education Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister. “The blue and yellow star line-up has been represented with wines and delicacies on the Croisette for ten years now. This year, the junior company from the Pyhra technical school is even taking part with home-made walnut pastries,” says Teschl-Hofmeister.

“The presentation of the Lower Austrian wines at the most important film festival in the world is a unique opportunity to draw the attention of filmmakers and the public to the state of Lower Austria with its cultural and culinary diversity,” emphasizes cellar master Judith Hartl. “In the Austria Pavilion, a popular meeting place for filmmakers on the beach promenade in Cannes, wine, sparkling wine and frizzante from the four Lower Austrian wineries Hollabrunn, Krems, Mistelbach and Retz are served during the film festival. Award-winning delicacies such as snack sausages and walnut pastries from the Lower Austrian agricultural schools are also served. The Austrian Film Commission is our cooperation partner,” informs Hartl.
