Telemedicine Digital Guardian Angel for the Heart

Telemedicine Digital Guardian Angel for the Heart – largest heart congress in Austria in Salzburg
Computer -aided medical care for heart failure and rhythm disorders

More than 380,000 people have to go to the hospital in Austria every year because they suffer a cardiac disease. The number is alarming. More people die from it than from cancer. For this reason, a special, important event this year is the annual meeting of the Austrian Cardiological Society in 2025, which will take place again this year in Salzburg (June 04). With almost 1,000 national and international participants, it is the largest nationwide expert meeting in the field of heart diseases.

The digital lifesaver for heart patients

This high -renowned event focuses on new approaches to telemedicine. With a safe wireless data transmission of medical measuring devices such as pacemakers, this provides constant monitoring of heart patients. This means that the patient can sleep calmly and is informed as soon as danger threatens. This potential for modern, patient -centered care is intensively discussed as part of lectures, workshops and specialist panels.

The wireless early warning system for heart failure

From Innsbruck to Vienna-Telemedicine revolutionizes the care of cardiac patients in Austria and offers new, life-saving perspectives, especially in heart weakness. Thanks to digital technologies, these can now be monitored and looked after independently in terms of location – close, safe and efficient. “Telemedical applications enable us to point out critical changes at an early stage and to intervene at an early stage before life -threatening conditions occur,” explains Prof. Gerhard Pölzl from Innsbruck one of the pioneers of telemedical use in this life -threatening illness. The University Clinic for Cardiology in Innsbruck is one of the pioneers in the telemedical care of heart failure patients.

Automatic alarm when the heart comes out of time …

Especially in the area of cardiac arrhythmias – for example in atrial fibrillation – continuous digital monitoring allows early detection of arrhythmias and significantly improves the loyalty to therapy and the quality of life of those affected. This technology has been established for years in the care of patients with pacemakers or other cardiac devices. “The measured values of the devices and recorded cardiac arrhythmias can be transmitted directly to the doctor, so that life -threatening conditions can be reacted promptly.” says Prof. Daniel Scherr President Elect of the Austrian Cardiological Society.

The telemedical engine: the Austrian Cardiological Society (ÖKG)

The close cooperation with the ÖKG is significantly involved in the rolling out of telemedical standards and supply models. In coordination with doctors in the resident area, hospitals and social security institutions, the ÖKG is working on an improvement in Austria -wide implementation of this future -oriented care. “Telemedicine creates a bridge between the patient and medical expert-regardless of the place of residence. It does not replace personal medical care, but complements it in a sensible way,” emphasizes Doz. Georg Delle Karth, President of the ÖKG. In this way, critical conditions can be recognized at an early stage, hospital stays reduced and mortality reduced.

Specialized nursing staff as an essential gatekeeper for telemedical data

A special highlight of this year’s congress is the professional and scientific discourse to a new professional role of nurses. The positive experiences give the tailwind that highly specialized nursing staff can professionally support medical colleagues in the evaluation of the resulting medical data flood in order to enable space-wide establishment of this future-oriented supply.
