Technology Talks Austria 2025: Focus on competitiveness

The Technology Talks Austria on September 11th and 12th, 2025 in the Museumsquartier Vienna are under the motto “Boosting Competitiveness – The Power of Research and Innovation”.

After the successful new edition of technology discussions in 2024 with more than 850 participants, this year’s Technology Talks Austria are all about the topic of the topic “Boosting Competitiveness – The Power of Research and Innovation”, i.e. the central importance of research, technology and innovation (FTI) for competitiveness. The Technology Talks Austria 2025 take place, back-to-back with the FFG forum, on September 11th and 12th in the Museumsquartier Vienna.

Boosting Competitiveness – The Power of Research and Innovation

Europe is in a tough competition with other business powers, especially with the USA and China. Most recently, Europe fell significantly back in terms of competitiveness, productivity and innovative strength. New approaches and solutions are urgently needed to counteract this- as is also required in corresponding renowned analyzes (Draghi and Heitor report).

Keynotes, plenary debates, workshops and space for networking

In an innovative mix of top -class keynotes of internationally renowned speakers: inside, diverse plenary debates, in -depth workshops and a lot of space for discussion and networking, the technology talks are looking for answers about the following questions:

How does Europe become more productive and competitive?
How does Europe get back to the top technologically?
What framework conditions does a prospering innovation location need?
How can Europe remain competitive in the long term?
What conclusions result in European, national and regional FTI policy?

In all formats, a multi-stakeholder perspective is taken: The three groups of science/research, business/industry and politics/public sector are always involved-with the aim of showing solutions and deriving conclusions for European and Austrian FTI policy.

“After the great success of the Technology Talks Austria 2024 as an Austria leading conference for research, technology and innovation with a European horizon, we will increase the federal states in 2025 – knowing how central regional innovation systems are for the competitiveness of the Austria and Europe,” explains Brigitte Bach, chairman of the event curator and AIT Managing Director.

“The future prosperity depends crucially on technology leadership in key areas. In the global competition for influence and prosperity, targeted strategies are needed so that Austria and Europe will continue to play at the top,” emphasizes Andreas Kugi, chairman of the program committee and AIT Scientific Director.

Numerous partners integrated

The Technology Talks Austria is organized by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection (BMK), Education (BMBWF) and Economy (BMAW) as well as the Austrian. Research Promotion Society (FFG) and the Industry Association (IV).

ACATech (German Academy of Technology), AIT Austria Institute of Technology, Christian Doppler Gesellschaft (CDG), Research Austria, Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), TU Austria, TU AUSTRIA, TU Graz, Montanuni Leoben) and the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) are integrated.
