“SVS chairman Lehner announces cuts in health insurance benefits”
Vienna (OTS) –

“When the Austrian People’s Party sends out its ‘soldiers’ to make unpleasant announcements, the trained Austrian knows where the train will probably go. This time it is the chairman of the self-employed fund SVS, Peter Lehner, who nonchalantly states that in the future we should return to ‘the essential and necessary aspects of benefits financed by health insurance funds’. This includes a restriction on the freedom to choose a doctor, which will particularly affect those with chronic illnesses. So this is what a health reform à la ÖVP should look like: citizens should pay, receive only basic treatment and should then take vacation instead of recovering while on sick leave,” the liberal health spokesman NAbg reacted today. Mag. Gerhard Kaniak on the statements of Lehner and the black chamberlains.

“When Lehner talks about not being able to expect a fully equipped Mercedes in the health system, but rather a standard Golf, then you shouldn’t expect tax payers to pay monthly for a fully equipped Mercedes. Of course, there is no sign of a high density of doctors in Austria, which is at issue in this debate. The rural population in particular suffers from a massive undersupply and long journeys to specialists, which are often impossible to manage without a car – a massive failure of the Green Health Minister Rauch and black announcement policy, there is no need to talk about ‘patient control’,” emphasized Kaniak.

Patient control, case management and Rauch’s “death commission” represent an anti-population policy that could not be more typical of the last five years. Added to this is the completely outlandish Corona policy, with compulsory vaccinations and the like. “This health policy chaos is being extended by ÖVP Chancellor Nehammer, in whom there is still no new government in sight, let alone one that has the will to has reforms. Nehammer and his ÖVP serve as the Greens’ defibrillator to keep them artificially alive, as if five years of chaos in the health sector were not enough – every day longer is a day too many,” said the FPÖ health spokesman.

“The high contributions from taxpayers are in no way comparable to the associated services, up to a quarter of which have to be paid for by the patients themselves – the best example here is dentures. Given the current economic situation, the gap in teeth will soon become a symbol of our times. On top of that, the SVS in particular is known for its rigorous ‘revenue practices’ and enjoys particularly dubious privileges. Austria needs a complete healthcare reform that puts patients first and not chamber and health insurance officials. The funds must not serve as an end in themselves for party soldiers, but only for those who finance their insurance benefits and are entitled to benefits – without any ifs or buts!” emphasized Kaniak.
