SVS: 65 million euros relief for 460,000 self-employed people thanks to tax reform

Vienna (OTS) In August, the relief from the eco-social tax reform for 2024 will take effect: 460,000 self-employed people with low and middle incomes are affected and will receive a credit for health insurance contributions of between 60 and 315 euros with the upcoming contribution requirement. The total amount is 65 million euros. “The federal government will cover the costs. In order to enable unbureaucratic processing for our insured persons, a corresponding credit is issued via prescription. The SVS settles the total amount with the federal government,” explains Peter Lehner, chairman of the social insurance for the self-employed (SVS).

Entitled to the credit in 2024 are traders, freelancers and newly self-employed people who were compulsorily or self-insured in health insurance under the GSVG as of May 31, as well as managers of an agricultural and forestry business, their full-time relatives and personally employed in the business Liable partners of an OG or KG who were compulsorily insured in health insurance according to the BSVG as of January 15th and whose contribution basis does not exceed 2,900 euros.

The annual contribution credit will be taken into account by the SVS in the summer contribution prescription, which will be sent out in the coming weeks, and depends on the contribution basis. Posting the credit reduces the outstanding contribution claim. All relevant information and services for prescribing contributions are available for SVS insured persons in the svsGO customer portal.
