In 2021 a unique development started in the field of hydrogen-electric city buses in Austria. As part of the FFG Project Hybus, the first two hydrogen electro buses “Elec City” from Hyundai were brought to Austria in Korean specification, as the first Hyundai buses used in public line in Europe.

Since then, both the Viennese lines and the Holding Graz have been extensively testing the Hyundai hydrogen Bus Elec City. In particular, the hydrogen electrical drive from Hyundai with ranges of up to 750 kilometers, which are independent of the weather, knew how to convince.

Now a new generation of the bus has been delivered to the Viennese lines for a 3-year test period. For this purpose, the Hyundai Motor Company has developed a new chassis in Korea, which is now being used outside of Asia for the first time. The Slovenian bus specialist Tam-Europe has completed and tested the bus with a specially developed structure. The 3-door 12m bus now presented thus meets all European requirements in terms of specifications and modernity. A special feature of the new bus is also the possibility of the 350 bar and 700 bar refueling.

A series production of the ELEC City FC 12 is planned from 2026.
