Sustainability in teaching and research
The Tyrolean universities anchor sustainability deeply in the core of their work, particularly through targeted integration into teaching and research. This includes promoting environmentally conscious thinking, developing solution skills and supporting innovative projects for a climate-neutral circular economy. These efforts offer potential for the local economy and strengthen Tyrol as a business location and living space. The FH is designing in collaboration with the eight Tyrolean universities of health, the Church of Pedagogical University Edith Stein, the Management Center Innsbruck, the Medical University of Innsbruck, the Tyrol University of Education, the Private University of Health Sciences, the Medical Informatics & Technology and the University of Innsbruck Kufstein Tirol has a common sustainability strategy and maintains an intensive exchange within its networks. Particularly in the Energy & Sustainability Management and Facility Management & Real Estate Management courses, the educational institution trains students to become future-oriented visionaries based on reality. “Through practical projects, we support communities and regions on their energy transition journey and see ourselves as a source of inspiration on a national and international level

Work-life balance, green events and building operations
The Tyrolean universities are also committed to the work-life balance and health of students and employees, emphasize healthy nutrition with a regional focus and the use of local products, especially at events. The Healthy Campus working group at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol develops new campaigns to promote the health of its employees every year. In the area of building operations and infrastructure, the educational institution relies on the efficient use of resources and the increased use of renewable energies. The measures not only contribute to reducing CO2 emissions, but also promote cost savings through the sustainable use of existing infrastructure.
Alliance for Sustainable Universities
As early as October 2021, the Kufstein Tirol University of Applied Sciences joined forces with 13 other technical colleges to form the Sustainable Universities Alliance. The alliance has set itself the goal of actively contributing to achieving the UN sustainability goals in order to assume its social responsibility and protect the environment.
