“The enthusiasm and the high participation – even in the rain – clearly exceed our expectations and confirm the trend towards modern, active leisure activities at the lake,” draws Peter Peschel, managing director of the Wörthersee -Rosental region, a positive conclusion.

Michaela Juvan, managing director of the Pörtschach tourism association, emphasizes:
“The surf wave was an enrichment for Pörtschach and brought new target groups to the lake. The interest and enthusiasm for showing that we have taken the right direction with this sporty highlight.”

The temporary Flowrider facility was a pilot project with a long-term perspective: The aim is to establish a permanent and sustainable surf infrastructure on Lake Wörthersee as a new sporty highlight for guests, day visitors and locals. The ecological balance of the lake is not affected. The system works regardless of the sea access and meets all environmental requirements.

First electric pump foil flow

In addition to the surf wave, the region with the Pump Foil Floß and the Pump Foil Club Austria went an innovative path. The raft, which is located in Krumpendorf, is 100 % electrically operated and is supplied with its own energy by a photovoltaic system. It enables calm and focused training without waves or noise. The athletes can start directly from the raft into the water (“Dockstart”) and thus optimally improve their technology.

What is Pumpfoilen?
Pumpoy is a form of water sports, in which you slide across the water on a board with a substructure. A pump movement with the legs brought the board going, making it “hovers” over the water.

The Pump Foil Floß offers various starting heights, storage options for club equipment and is the new meeting point of the Pump Foil Community on Lake Wörthersee. The training now takes place on different spots and no longer exclusively from the bridge on the bank.

Patrick Rauter, contact person for water sports in the region, added:
“With the Pump Foil Floß, we create a perfect training platform that offers both beginners and advanced people a safe and sustainable sports experience. The combination of the latest technology and environmental friendliness makes water sports at Lake Wörthersee sustainable.”
