Summer construction sites over – now the ÖBB has to deliver
St. Pölten (ots) –

“The patience of the commuters is at the end. The summer construction sites are over. Now there must be no excuses. The ÖBB has to deliver,” says Lower Austria’s state of transport and LH deputy Udo Landbauer with a view of the start of school on September 1st. He demands maximum punctuality, quality and reliable connections from the ÖBB.

“For weeks, passengers had to endure massive restrictions due to train failures, delays and connection losses. This has to end. Especially on the Franz-Josefs-Bahn there were problems almost every day, and late trains did not wait for late trains on the southern railway in the Wiener Neustadt knot.

After the numerous summer construction sites on the Südbahn, the Laaer Ostbahn, the Franz-Josefs-Bahn and the Kremserbahn come to an end, nothing stands in the way of a decent company. “Especially now that hundreds of thousands of students and commuters are dependent on reliable public connections, ÖBB has to prove that it takes people seriously,” says Landbauer.

In Lower Austria, the timetables of the railway and bus were coordinated, the infrastructure is continuously modernized together with the ÖBB. On almost 1,600 kilometers of rail network, it is important to guarantee passengers on time and secure connections in all transfer nodes. “The prerequisites are there. Modern infrastructure and coordinated timetables. Now it is only due to the ÖBB to deliver this quality every day,” emphasizes Landbauer.
