The City of Vienna’s Summer City Camps 2024 are celebrating a fantastic half-time and are offering an exciting holiday care program for students aged 6 to 12 and for children with disabilities aged 6 to 14 for the sixth time this summer. From July 1, 2024 to August 30, 2024, children can expect an exciting mix of games, fun and a variety of leisure activities at 31 school locations in Vienna.
Record participation and expansion of childcare places
Knapp 10.000 Kinder, more people than ever before are taking advantage of the all-day offer in camp format with lunch and a healthy snack, which is supported by the City of Vienna. The children have the opportunity to learn to cycle and swim, engage in creative activities, visit museums and make new friends. The wide range of Summer City Camps is supported by the cooperation between the City of Vienna and the BiM – Education at the Center GmbHdem Hi Jump Vienna Association and other organizations in the youth and educational sectors.
Inclusion and expansion of childcare places
A special focus is on leisure care for children with disabilities. Thanks to the ongoing expansion of these childcare places, the quota for children with disabilities in small groups was increased by 50 percent – and a third small group location was also opened. A total of 31 percent more places are available for care in inclusive groups in order to better cover the urgent need for these forms of care.
Site visit by the deputy mayor
On the occasion of a site visit to the Medwedweg all-day elementary school in Simmering, where care is offered for children with and without disabilities, this became clear Vice Mayor and City Councilor for Education Christoph Wiederkehr enthusiastic about the successful implementation: “The Summer City Camps Vienna set new standards in holiday care: a well thought-out program offers children exciting leisure activities at the highest level. By expanding the number of places for children with disabilities and a new registration system, the camps will become more inclusive and fair. This flagship project not only promotes inclusion, but also supports numerous families. Thanks to the work of our cooperation partners and an investment of over 13 million euros from the city, we can give 10,000 children an unforgettable holiday for the first time.”

The Hi Jump Vienna association is responsible for the conception and implementation of the leisure education program. The implementation takes place in collaboration with experienced partner organizations from the youth and educational sectors (ASKÖ WAT Vienna, Interface Vienna, Vienna Adult Education Centers, Vienna Families Association, Vienna Youth Red Cross, Vienna Children’s Friends and Period Vienna).
Affordable participation fees and discounts
The participation fees for the Summer City Camps remained unchanged in 2024 and amount to 60 euros per child and week of care including lunch and a healthy snack. For every second and third sibling the costs are reduced to 30 euros per week; From the fourth child onwards, participation is free of charge. Children in basic care and needs-based minimum income can use the offer free of charge.

Outlook for 2025
The Summer City Camps will take place again next year: from June 30, 2025 to August 29, 2025, the city of Vienna is once again offering an exciting and varied holiday program for children. The City of Vienna continues to rely on close cooperation with proven partner organizations. Registration for summer holiday care will start again in April.
