Summer and autumn program in the Donau-Auen National Park

Various thematic focuses on the guided hikes in the Donau-Auen National Park in summer and autumn. The excursions accompanied by national park rangers span an arc of fireflies to beavers, bats and forest owls to the Hirschbrunft and the feathered winter guests in late autumn.

So on June 13th and 21st from 9 p.m. from 9 p.m. you can from the Eckartsau Schlosspark under the motto “Glüh, fireflies!” on a special journey of discovery to the dancing lights in the nightly riparian forest. “Nachtaktiv in the Auwald” on June 20 from 8 p.m. on a hike from Orth an der Donau will provide why some animals are nocturnal, what adaptations are to nightlife and what the light pollution is all about. The night of the day also makes the “Biberperspectives” boat tour on June 28th, in which one sets out into the world of the meadow of the floodplain at 7 p.m.

On July 7th from 8.30 p.m. and on August 18 from 7.30 p.m. you can experience the nightly flight acrobats live on the evening walk “Bats – Nocturnal Hunters around the Castle” in and around Orth. “Loosen the red deer” can be found on evening hikes on 3rd, 5th, 8th and 10th of September from 5:30 p.m. or on a morning hike on September 7 from 5 a.m. on four -hour tours from Eckartsau Castle. Later in autumn, the national holiday on October 26th will bring two free tours from 2 p.m.: In Orth an der Donau, the autumn tour through the Orthe Auen to the Danube, in Hainburg from the Danube region to the Rötelstein ruins. Last but not least, on November 30th by Maria Ellend station, a visit will be made from the “feathered winter guests of the Donau-Auen”; The start is at 9.30 a.m.
