On Saturday the 15th edition of the already traditional charity event for the students of the Federal College for Tourism and Economic Professions (HLTW 13 / Bergheidengasse) took place at the Hotel Savoyen – with artistic support from, among others, Anna Mabo, Karl Markovics and Erwin Steinhauer – successfully across the stage. Under the motto “School and Charity”, HLTW 13, led by director Anita Petschning, organizes numerous charitable events every year. The “Theater Hotel”, with a cultural brunch in the morning and an evening concert, is traditionally one of the highlights. The students are responsible for the entire event management, marketing and banquet. The donation proceeds from the event, more than 33,000 euros, will benefit village building projects in India, the integration house and the inclusive learning workshop “0816” via the cooperation partner Development Aid Club.

Culture.Brunch with Anna Mabo, Clemens Sainitzer, Karl Markovics and the Neue Wiener Concert Schrammeln

At the start of the morning, Anna Mabo, accompanied by Clemens Sainitzer, enchanted with delicate melodies and profound lyrics: “Morality, there is only one,” she sang, perfectly fitting the charity spirit of the event. Afterwards, Karl Markovics and the Neue Wiener Concert Schrammeln performed the honors as a well-rehearsed team and offered an inimitable Viennese melange of dances, marches, Schrammel music and humorous anecdotes from Alfred Polgar, Friedrich Torberg and Karl Kraus, among others. Karl Markovics, a supporter of this charity project for many years, entertained the audience with powerful storytelling and fluid role changes. The talents of Bergheidengasse, students from the 4th and 5th tourism classes, were responsible for the smooth organization, process and in particular the culinary program as well as the care of the guests. The menu created especially for this event interpreted Viennese cuisine in a refreshingly modern way with international accents.

Evening concert: A Tribute to Otto Tausig with Erwin Steinhauer and klezmer reloaded extended

The evening, entitled “A Tribute to Otto Tausig,” was dedicated to the theater hotel’s co-founder, the actor and humanitarian Otto Tausig, who died in 2011. A magnificent Erwin Steinhauer and klezmer reloaded extended served unforgettable hits by Hermann Leopoldi and Ralph Benatzky, among others, and entertained with a perfect mix of klezmer, jazz and Viennese song.
