Street festival: The other way around is not wrong in Mariahilf | City vienna

Vice Mayor Christoph Wiederkehr at the 18th LGBTIQ Festival in Mariahilf

Vienna (OTS) On Saturday, diversity was celebrated in Mariahilf and Vienna Pride Week rang in with a colorful show program – the festival took place in Esterhazygasse.

Vice Mayor Wiederkehr emphasizes: “We are all united by the common goal of making diversity in Vienna visible. This year too, the city of Vienna is focusing on education and information with the ‘Live your love’ campaign. I am particularly pleased that the first queer youth center in Austria will open at the end of June. This is so important because the LGBTIQ community is unfortunately under pressure – especially young people too often.”

The traditional street festival “It’s not wrong the other way around” once again made a strong statement for openness and joie de vivre in the 6th district! “The district motto “Together in Mariahilf” is lived here,” explains district leader Markus Rumelhart. In a sign of openness and mutual respect, the event took place on June 1st in Esterhazygasse between Mariahilfer Straße and Damböckgasse. “We are united in our diversity,” said district leader Markus Rumelhart.

From 2 p.m., visitors immersed themselves in a colorful music and dance program and experienced a pure good atmosphere! The festival started with a DJ line and opened loudly with a brilliant performance by the “STiXX Frauen drumming” formation. It continued with five stage acts, including the duo SCHLOR & FANTA (formerly “Damenspitz”). They have already made a name for themselves with melodious, clever, touching, but also socially critical and funny songs. Sarah Neller impressed live with her expressive, powerful voice, her charm and esprit as well as her engaging charisma. The PopChor Vienna spread a good atmosphere with its passion and modern pop music. Another highlight of the festival was the ultimate disco show by TINA WELL, which thrilled with its live performance, DJ beats and musical upgrades. Deejaying Susie Flowers brought the celebration to a close.

In addition to the show program, numerous clubs and community initiatives were the focus of the festival. They have provided information about their advisory services.
