Stocker: “Strengthening of the radical fringes in Germany is alarming”
Vienna (OTS) –

“The strengthening of the radical fringes in Germany is alarming. In Saxony and Thuringia, not only the radical right-wing fringe was strengthened with the AfD, but also the radical left-wing fringe with the ‘Sarah Wagenknecht Alliance’. The radical fringes offer seemingly simple solutions to complex problems that cannot actually be realized in either Germany or Austria. Quite the opposite: the politics of the radical fringe damages our economic location, endangers our security and leads to a loss of prosperity. These election results should be a warning to us that a strong center is needed in politics,” said the general secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, reacting to the election results in Saxony and Thuringia.

“FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl is becoming increasingly radical and is promising the people of our country the best of luck. In doing so, he demonizes our democratic system, puts people’s safety at risk, wants to play politics with wanted lists and even disregards international law. This ever-increasing radicalization of Herbert Kickl is extremely dangerous,” continued Stocker, who concluded: “The elections in Germany show one thing very clearly with regard to the National Council election: On September 29th it will be about whether the radical forces or the political center is strengthened in Austria. Only with Chancellor Karl Nehammer and the People’s Party can we actually implement a policy for the middle in our society.”
