Stocker: “Doskozil once again snubs SPÖ boss Babler in the ORF press hour”

After coming third in the European elections, the SPÖ wing fights broke out openly again – Doskozil made an astonishing turnaround on the issue of external border protection

Vienna (OTS) “Doskozil once again snubbed SPÖ leader Babler during the ORF press hour. After Doskozil refused to take part in the SPÖ marketing show surrounding the supposedly revised migration program, it quickly became clear why: the SPÖ is still not prepared to commit to a strict migration policy. Yesterday’s Bablerian failure was nothing more than a rehash of ancient social democratic programs on the subject of migration. Anyone looking for something new had to go home disappointed. The SPÖ is obviously completely unable to act – otherwise at least a few new points would have been presented,” says the general secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, about the SPÖ appearances by Babler and Doskozil.

“In today’s ORF press hour, Hans Peter Doskozil said that he, like Interior Minister Gerhard Karner, would have blocked Romania and Bulgaria’s accession to Schengen. The fact is: Doskozil spoke out in favor of Schengen expansion. Now the Burgenland governor believes he can cheat his way into the successful record of only 290 apprehensions in the first half of 2024. But this success is thanks to the police under Interior Minister Gerhard Karner,” continued Stocker, who concluded: “Today’s appearance by Governor Doskozil in the press hour has impressively proven that the SPÖ is still a deeply divided party. The Viennese Wings around Mayor Ludwig, Burgenlander Doskozil and SPÖ leader Babler are pulling the SPÖ in three completely different directions. A politician like Babler, who cannot even unite his own party, should not even try to hold a country or a government together. Once again it is clear: Austria is in the best hands with Chancellor Karl Nehammer and the People’s Party.”
