Steyr Automotive and SuperPanther are developing new electric trucks
As part of the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 in Hanover, Steyr Automotive and SuperPanther announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop competitive electric trucks.
The first result of this partnership, the eTopas 600 electric truck, is celebrating an impressive premiere at the IAA. The eTopas 600 is an electric truck that is specifically tailored to the European market. It is equipped with highly efficient LFP batteries that offer a range of 500 kilometers. The eTopas 600 is scheduled to go into series production at Steyr Automotive at the end of 2025.
In addition, the launch of the eEmerald series was also announced, which will include three models with different powertrains, ranges and cabin configurations to meet different customer requirements. These models will also be equipped with SuperPanther’s proprietary core systems, which have strong advantages in performance, winter operation and vehicle longevity.
Dr. Michael Ruf, president of SuperPanther’s European market, said: “The partnership between SuperPanther and Steyr Automotive is of great importance for the global development of the electric heavy-duty truck industry. This strategic collaboration accelerates the integration of resources between the two companies to provide efficient, environmentally friendly electric truck solutions that meet the growing demand for net-zero transportation.”
Manfred Eibeck, deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Steyr Automotive: “As a company with more than a century of experience in the production of trucks, Steyr Automotive has always been committed to new technologies. In this strategic collaboration with SuperPanther, we are not just integrators of technology, but co-creators of a shared vision. Together, Steyr Automotive and SuperPanther will drive progress in electric heavy-duty technology and thereby contribute to the global goal of “net zero emissions.”
