State road B 35 is being renewed between Pillersdorf and Obernalb

Traffic opening planned for the end of September

St. Pölten (OTS) Construction work on the road renewal of the B 35 state road between Pillersdorf and Obernalb in the Hollabrunn district officially began today. The work is carried out by HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft (production of cement stabilization) together with Held & Francke Bau (milling and asphalting work). After the floor markings have been applied by Monsipan Bautenschutz Gesellschaft, the road maintenance company in Retz and the company Strobl Schotter- und Betonwerkgesellschaft will then adapt the shoulder to the new structure.

The costs for the road renewal amount to around 710,000 euros, which will be borne entirely by the state of Lower Austria. In order to carry out the work quickly and efficiently, the B 35 state road will be closed between the intersection of the B 35 and the L 1065 near Pillersdorf and the intersection of the B 35 with the L 1056 required in Obernalb. The signposted diversion will be in both directions for the duration of the closure via the B 30 from Retz to Watzelsdorf and the B 45 from Watzelsdorf to the roundabout near Pulkau.

The renovation measure chosen for the state road B 35 was to renew the structural structure, which is already around 50 years old. The roadway is first milled and then a cement-stabilized base and top layer is applied. The existing dirt road connections and drainage facilities will be adapted to the new conditions. The project became necessary because the state road B 35 in the open area between Pillersdorf and Obernalb (municipality of Zellerndorf and Retz) has numerous road damages over a length of around 2.1 kilometers or an area of around 13,600 square meters. For this reason, the Lower Austrian Road Service has decided to renovate this section. The B 35 in this area has an average traffic volume of around 3,500 vehicles per day.
