State Conference 2025 on the subject of “Future of Mobility”

The State Conference of the ARBÖ Lower Austria, entitled “Future of Mobility”, took place on September 6, 2025. Commercial councilor Franz Pfeiffer was elected President of the State Organization by the 82 delegates – as already in 2020. His deputies became Mag. Ernst Bauer and Franz Leithner, Wolfgang Stangl was confirmed as the state manager. At the State Conference in Tulln, ARBÖ was Austrian President Dr. Peter Rezar, the Vienna ARBÖ President Friedrich Beidler, Peter Steurer, President of the Arbö Vorarlberg, BR Christian Fischer and Labg. Doris Hahn, the Mayor of Tullner Peter Eisenschenk, as well as numerous other guests of honor.

Franz Pfeiffer, who has been associated with the ARBÖ Lower Austria in functions such as breakdown drivers, operations manager, state manager or works council for more than five decades, was elected president of the state organization for the second time after 2020. In his balance sheet, Pfeiffer emphasized the activity of the 19 ARBÖ district organizations and 89 local clubs. “The ARBÖ Lower Austria is a living organization and in all regions of the country. The active club life and the 21 test centers make the ARBÖ clearly visible in our state. In the past five years, 13,500 cycling tests have been removed in schools in all districts, as well as national and international cycling events. The Arbö was on site in Eggenburg.

“In addition to the numerous club activities, the ARBÖ Niederösterreich is a representation of interests – the voice of all people in our federal state who are actively mobile – whether on two or four wheels, with or without a motor and as a pedestrian,” emphasized Pfeiffer in his statement. “Because mobility – in leisure time, in the private sector as well as at work – is a basic need for everyone in Lower Austria. A ARBÖ’s central requirement is therefore that mobility remains affordable for everyone. Because of its rural structures, Lower Austria is a car country, and people need their car for everyday life – especially the more than 600,000 commuters,” said Pfeiffer.

There are many new concepts in Lower Austria such as the expansion of the publications, traffic-calmed village and city centers, the revitalization of the town centers as well as the increase in everyday bike traffic or the establishment of Park & Ride facilities. All of these are suggestions that the ARBÖ welcome, because this is innovative measures that are mobility without supporting and promoting mobility without their own cars or the combination of cars and publications, the ARBÖ president said. Despite all these ideas, however, the Lower Austrian is essential for the Lower Austrians. “For this reason, the ARBÖ stands for an expansion of the street infrastructure in Lower Austria. The example A5-the Weinviertel Autobahn-has shown that the Weinviertel Autobahn-which has led to a significant revival of the entire region,” said Pfeiffer at the state conference.

The ARBÖ in Lower Austria has around 80,000 members and 176 full -time employees, of which 114 are active in the technical service in the 21 test centers. In his report, state manager Wolfgang Stangl gave an overview of the service and services from 2021 to 2025: ABÖ technicians were called for a total of 82,000 breakdown operations, and around 22,000 towing of defective vehicles were necessary. Almost 232,000 Pickerl reports were made by the ARBÖ for Lower Austrian drivers. In order to be technically up to date, the ARBÖ technicians are constantly completing courses and training. Important investments in recent years have been the purchase of twelve breakdown vehicles and four new towing trucks. The test center in Wiener Neustadt was rebuilt.

“The ARBÖ-Niederösterreich is economically solidly established, which enables the financing of new projects,” said Stangl. “These include the new construction of the test center in Gänserndorf as well as the expansion of the test centers in Altlengbach and Neunkirchen. As a new service for our members, we are planning quick charging stations for electric vehicles with the OMV on the parking space of our test centers. We also want to work on the expansion of digital offers in the next few years. very, ”said the state manager.
