Starting signal for a new tourist offer at the Gruber Röschitz organic winery

In the spirit of sustainability and hospitality

We built our new winery according to the highest ecological standards, intended as a home for our wines and as a meeting place for wine lovers who can also gain insights into the craft.

Röschitz (OTS) Friends, neighbors, companions and partners celebrated the brilliant opening of the new organic winery Gruber Röschitz on Thursday, April 4, 2024, which is now also a tourist contact point.

An atmospheric evening that gave an idea of what the construction of this new winery means for the Weinviertel and what there is now for wine-loving visitors to experience and learn. Moderator Thomas Kamenar led through the opening act, during which the sibling trio Maria Wegscheider, Ewald Gruber and Christian Gruber talked about their vision for the new building. The direct, underground connection to an old cellar in the Röschitzer Kellergasse at the back offers the opportunity to take a journey through time on guided tours of winemaking from then and now (every Friday at 3 p.m.). In the spacious shop and on the spacious terrace, wine enthusiasts who drop by spontaneously or planned can taste the wines individually and enjoy small snacks during opening hours from Thursday to Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The aspect of sustainability was the premise of the construction itself. They were the first Austrian winery to implement a CO2-neutral construction site (up to the turnkey excavation pit); other nature- and climate-friendly aspects include the use of natural earth cooling, rain irrigation, photovoltaics or the use of HVO diesel (made from plant and animal residues ). The materials were chosen similarly. In the basement area, where statics and operational stress require it, concrete forms the stable basis. The entire upper area was implemented as a wooden structure with climate-regulating clay plaster. Planning and expertise for the implementation were carried out by the teams from Architects Collective ZT-GmbH and Studio Riebenbauer.
