Comments on the expanded offer

Vienna’s economic and public transport city councilor Peter Hanke: “ÖBB’s expanded New Year’s Eve connections show once again how important close cooperation between public transport and the cities is. ÖBB’s extended New Year’s Eve connections are a great offer for Vienna. It is pleasing, for example, that the S50 from St. Pölten to Westbahnhof is being extended, allowing people to enjoy New Year’s Eve in a relaxed manner and to get back to Vienna safely from the west late at night.

Lower Austrian State Transport Council LH deputy Udo Landbauer: “Our additional New Year’s Eve connections are tailored precisely to the needs of families in Lower Austria. We are extending the offer until late at night and are making things easier so that everyone can make their way home relaxed and safe. From the Mariazellerbahn for the Pielachtal to the expanded connections on the southern axis, the western route and throughout the entire eastern region. This offer is tailor-made and brings reliable connections on New Year’s Eve.”

Burgenland Provincial Councilor Heinrich Dorner: “The Raaberbahn’s expanded New Year’s Eve offer also brings a practical addition to Burgenland. With the later REX6 connection from Vienna Central Station at 1:00 a.m., which runs via Wulkaprodersdorf to Eisenstadt and Deutschkreutz, the people of Burgenland have a good opportunity to get home safely and comfortably after the New Year’s Eve celebrations in Vienna.”

Christof Hermann, regional manager of ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG for the eastern region: “It is a great pleasure for us to work with VOR to enable customers to have a good start to 2025. We will therefore be expanding our offering on some routes on New Year’s Eve and also offering later connections. The aim is for our passengers to celebrate the turn of the year, but also to be able to get home safely and sustainably afterwards.”
