Thomas Gruber takes over Wiener Lokalbahnen and Ernst Machart takes over the management of Wipark
Vienna (OTS) – The long-time authorized representative Thomas Gruber (52) will succeed Monika Unterholzner as managing director of Wiener Lokalbahnen at the beginning of the year. At the Wipark garage company, Ernst Machart (60) will also succeed Roman Fuchs on January 1, 2024. The predecessors of Gruber and Machart are now working as deputies of Wiener Stadtwerke General Director Peter Weinelt. “I am very pleased to be able to continue driving forward the positive development of Vienna Local Railways in my new role and with the entire team. On safe tracks: Thomas Gruber heads Vienna’s local railways
Thomas Gruber, a proven expert at the group company Wiener Lokalbahnen, will take over management. The doctor of law has worked in the company in various management positions since 2013 and was also an authorized signatory. After studying at the University of Vienna, Gruber began his career as a constitutional lawyer in the Federal Chancellery. He then worked in the legal department of e-Control and in a well-known law firm. Before moving to Lokalbahnen, Gruber headed the legal department of Wien Energie (Wienstrom) for almost four years. Gruber is married and has one child.
Wipark: Experienced municipal utility manager Ernst Machart takes over
Ernst Machart is no stranger to the Vienna public utilities cosmos. In his almost 15-year career with the company, the Viennese-born man headed IWS TownTown AG as CEO and integrated Wipark into the group in 2009. For six years, Machart has headed the Group Finance & Strategy department at Wiener Stadtwerke as an authorized signatory. Before 2009, the qualified lawyer and business economist worked in banking groups at home and abroad for twenty years, including managing a leasing group in Bulgaria as CEO. The enthusiastic saxophonist and endurance athlete serves on several supervisory boards inside and outside the company as well as on the local council of the market town of Perchtoldsdorf. Machart is the father of four children.
