The ORF-III magazine “Culture Today” puts on the focus of Monday, August 4th to Friday, August 8, 2025, at 7.40 p.m. On Monday (August 4th), a portrait about rock’n’roll entertainer Andy Lee Lang is on the program on the occasion of his 60th birthday. In addition, Heinz Sichrovsky reports with a current criticism of the opera “Maria Stuarda” from the Salzburg Festival (on August 1st Live time delayed at 9.20 p.m. in ORF 2 and on ORF ON). In a relaxed atmosphere, she talks about the absurdities of everyday life and shares personal and general observations with the audience. “She takes up both general and her own experiences – from cheerful to seriously.

Crime inlaid in the “ORF III Summer Cino”: Exciting evenings with Inspector Lewis and Hercule Poirot

The “ORF III Summer Cinema” will present two episodes of the popular crime series “Agatha Christie’s Poirot” on Tuesday, August 5: In “Death Auf der Nil” (8:15 p.m.) the rich Linnet Doyle is murdered on her honeymoon – master detective Hercule Poirot begins with the investigation. This is followed by “the owl house” (10 p.m.), in which Poirot enlightens a murder on a estate with many suspects. Thursday: “Land of the Mountains” with two cinematic trips through the heart of the Hohe Tauern

“Land of the mountains” leads on Thursday, August 7th, through the impressive landscape “around the Glockner – From Fusch to Heiligenblut” (8:15 p.m.). The documentary invites you to a cinematic journey along Glockner Hoch Alpenstraße-from Bruck via the Ferleitental to the Franz-Josefs-Höhe and on to Heiligenblut. Afterwards it goes in another “Land of the Mountains” production about “The Hohe Tauern: from the Salzach origin to the Großvenediger” (9:05 p.m.)-a cinematic hike through the multifaceted landscape of the largest national park in the Alps.

Continuation of the program focus on Peter Weck’s 95

On Friday, August 8th, ORF III will show the comedy “Two under one roof” (8:15 p.m.) as part of his focus on the 95th birthday of Peter Weck, where the jubilee directed. The dogged little war of two pensioners and neighbors, who gets into a lovable, chaotic competition for the favor of a teacher, played by Suzanne von Borsody, is told. 80 years of Hiroshima: history, backgrounds and fates

On the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, “Zeit.Chichen” of the historical turning point on Saturday, August 9th, dedicates a comprehensive program of program. It starts with the conversation format “History today – 80 years Hiroshima” (7.50 p.m.), in which Nadja Schmid, spokeswoman for “Ican”, deals with the relevance of historical events for the present. Sunday: Live festival fair from Klagenfurt, Salzburg Festival magazine, “Stars in Gars” and “Oedipe-From the Bregenz Festival”

On Sunday, August 10th, ORF III will broadcast the festival mass live from the Klagenfurt Cathedral as part of the “Musica Sacra” 2025 at 10 a.m. Mozart’s “Missa in G”, played by soloists, choir and orchestra of the Dommusik Klagenfurt under the direction of Domkapellmeister Thomas Wasserfaller, with cathedral organist Klaus Kuchling on the organ.
In the evening the third edition of “Jedermannjedefrau – The Salzburg Festival Magazine” 2025 (7:55 p.m.) follows. Fashion expert Martina Reuter takes a look at the trends on the Red Carpet, and it is also about the social media activities of prominent opera stars.
Afterwards ORF III presents a two-time “experience stage” premiere as part of the “ORF Kultursommers”: The beginning is “Stars in Gars-Clemens Unterreiner & Friends” (8:15 p.m.). On the open-air stage of the Opera Burg Gars, director Unterreiner Stars from Classical, Musical and Pop, including Maya Hakvoort, Günther Groissböck, Julian Le Play and Cesár Sampson combines. A musical cross-over with arias and duets, popular songs and impressive choirs is offered-from bicets “Carmen” to Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story”. “Oedipe – from the Bregenz Festival” (9:45 p.m.) continues dramatically. This year’s house opera of the Bregenz Festival is George Enescus Monumental’s work on the fate of Oedipus to Sophocles, staged by Andreas Kriegenburg. Paul Gay takes over the title game, Marina Prudenskaya and Michael Helm can be experienced as Jocaste and Laios. The Viennese symphonists and the Prague Philharmonic choir make music under the direction of Hannu Lintu.
