St. Georgen an der Leys: Expansion B 29
St. Pölten (ots) –

In order to increase traffic safety on the B 29 in the Kröll area in the municipal area of St. Georgen an der Leys, the road was expanded over a length of around 435 meters. In this area, the entire existing bituminous structure of the B 29 was milled off, a new layer of support and cover was installed and a drainage was covered on the left. The road width is between six and seven meters. The municipality of St. Georgen/Leys was rebuilt with the Scheibbs road maintenance department and two bus stops of around 70 meters. The construction work was carried out by the Scheibbs road maintenance department in cooperation with companies in the region, started in May and have now been completed. The total construction costs are around 415,000 euros, of which around 395,000 euros are borne by the state of Lower Austria and 20,000 euros by the municipality of St. Georgen/Leys.

The project was necessary, since due to the old street construction, the B 29 in the area of Krölll in the municipal area of St. Georgen/Leys from 36.025 to kilometer no longer met 36.460. Furthermore, the adjoining systems such as sidewalks, bus accommodation and drainage facilities were in need of renovation or not sufficient. For these reasons, the Lower Austria Straßendienst and the municipality of St. Georgen/Leys have decided to expand or redesign the B 29 in the section in question.
