Sr. Susanne Susanne Krendelsberger elected sisters of Caritas Socialis for a third term as general manager

At the 14th ordinary general assembly of the Caritas Socialis sister community, which from 29.6. – 6.7. In 2025 in the CS Pramergasse and in the Cardinal König Haus, the general management of the sister community was elected on July 2, 2025. The members of the General Assembly are accompanied in this process by Mag.a Gabriele Lindner and P. Alois Riedlsperger SJ.

Choice of general management

Sr. Susanne Krendelsberger CS was re -elected for a third term. Sr. Karin Weiler was elected as the first ratz sister and thus general assistant. Sr. Clotilde Rodrigues Bonfim, Sr. Sieglinde Ruthner and Sr. ângela Leoneete Vandresen were elected to other general councilors. They take responsibility in the management of the community.

Sr. Susanne Krendelsberger CS

Sr. Susanne Krendelsberger, born in 1962, comes from Vienna, is a trained religious educator, pastoral assistant and a graduate social worker. After operations in the Oberleis youth center in the Weinviertel, she headed the CS House for Mother and Child, was responsible for the sister community in Pramergasse and administrative manager before she has acted as a general manager since 2013. Sr. Susanne Krendelsberger is the CEO of the CS Caritas Socialis Private Foundation and on the board of Solwodi – Austria, an association founded by religious associations against human trafficking. From 2017 – 2023 it was delegated by the UISG Constellation Europa C2 (Association of General Managers), since 2022 it has been a member of the board of the Austrian Orders’ Conference and since 2023 a member of the management team of the regional conference of the Order Vienna/Eisenstadt.

General Assembly – cared for in dignity, live self -determined

The general assembly is under the motto “cared for, live self -determined”. The assembled sisters will deal with the organization of the community for the future in the coming days in order to be able to work into society based on the founder Hildegard Burjan – in Brazil and Europe.

Caritas sister community socialis

The Caritas Socialis was founded in 1919 by Hildegard Burjan as a community of women in the Catholic Church. The CS, these are sisters, members of the secular circle, external members (MECS), employees: interior and volunteers, friends and driving away: inside. In Vienna, CS Caritas Socialis offers professional care and care for chronically ill people and seriously ill people. Alie offers can be used mobile via the CS care at home, during the day in the CS daily centers or around the clock in the care facilities and in the shared apartments. The CS Hospiz Wien/CS Hospiz Rennweg looks after seriously ill people at home, in the day hospice and in the palliative, hospice and care facilities. Furthermore, the CS Caritas Socialis operates specialized institutions for people with dementia and people who are suffering from multiple sclerosis. The CS runs kindergartens, the CS house for mother and child, an advice center and a holiday home. Sisters are committed to people on the run and in Solwodi Austria, an initiative of religious communities against human trafficking. In Brazil, the CS is responsible for a family social center in Guarapuava. CS sisters work in their own and other social and church institutions and are represented in Austria, Brazil and Germany.

Hildegard Burjan (1883 – 1933)

Married, mother, academic with a watchful look for social developments. Active, innovative and courageous, she took new ways of help – as one of the first eight women in the Austrian Parliament, as the founder of the CS. She gave strength for her commitment from faith. As a Jew, she was baptized after a serious illness and, according to the motto “The love of Christ urges us …” (2 Cor 5:14). Hildegard Burjan was blessed on 29. 1. 2012.
