SPÖ Vorarlberg is calling for building law amnesty for Maisäß buildings

For months, a Maisäß employed the Vorarlberg judiciary in the Montafon. In February of this year, the state administrative court finally decided that the renovation of the building was illegal and that it had to be demolished after 50 years. “This judgment once again shows the massive building law uncertainties that are still available in terms of corn buildings and which for the owners: Inside, immense financial damage can bring about,” explains the SPÖ club chairman Mario Leiter. The said Maisäß in the Montafon is by no means an isolated case, he clarifies. The SPÖ therefore calls for a corresponding building law amnesty for these buildings.

The demolition notice is often only after decades

“It cannot be that people are waiting for a building notice for decades, then make high investments and finally be confronted with a demolition notice,” criticizes Mario Leit. Especially since the owners would pay levies to the municipalities on constant time at this time, the SPÖ club chairman said:

“This situation is intolerable and urgently needs to be clarified.”

Create legal certainty and maintain cultural asset

Mario Leiter has therefore not only brought an application in the state parliament, but also sent concrete proposals to the responsible state councilor Tittler in order to obtain a building law amnesty for the affected corn building and Riedhütten. “In these cases, the country must ensure legal clarity and create a legal solution so that further demolitions are prevented,” emphasizes the SPÖ club chairman. The declared goal is to achieve legal security for conversions and extensions that have existed for decades and for the taxes. ” Just treatment of those affected, ”concludes Mario Leiter.
