SPÖ Vorarlberg congratulates Hans Peter Doskozil and the SPÖ Burgenland

The SPÖ Vorarlberg warmly congratulates Governor Hans Peter Doskozil and the SPÖ Burgenland on the great result in the state elections. The SPÖ remains the strongest force in Burgenland and defends its leading role in the state parliament. “This is an impressive signal from the people of Burgenland for stability, social justice and a clear social democratic signature. Hans Peter Doskozil has shown that people trust his politics – even in challenging times. In times like these, such a clear result is a real achievement that deserves the highest recognition,” emphasizes Mario Leiter, club chairman and chairman of the SPÖ Vorarlberg.

ÖVP as the big loser of the election

With a loss of almost 10 percentage points, the ÖVP is the big loser of this election. For Leiter, this is a clear signal: “This result cannot be seen independently of how the ÖVP federal party behaves. The people have clearly shown the ÖVP what they think about the ÖVP breaking its promises and wanting to make Kickl chancellor. This defeat should therefore give Christian Stocker and the ÖVP at the federal level pause for thought. Today we have not only seen a success for the SPÖ, but also the deselection of a blue-black coalition at the federal level.” Leiter calls on the ÖVP to take these signals seriously and to end the coalition negotiations with the FPÖ. The Social Democrat emphasizes that the SPÖ’s hand remains outstretched.

In this context, Mario Leiter explains that he wants to continue the good cooperation with Governor Doskozil: “A strong SPÖ in Burgenland is a benefit for all of Austria.”
