We in Vienna are shaping Europe: The course for a fair Europe was set in Vienna
Vienna (OTS/SPW) – In his closing remarks at the Vienna State Party Conference, Mayor Dr. Michael Ludwig told the delegates: “Today’s state party conference was a great success. We are a strong, reliable political force with the aim of achieving good results in all elections that come our way.” ****
“I am pleased that this year’s state party conference was once again characterized by political participation and co-determination. We in Vienna do politics with responsibility! Our party lives from diversity and solidarity and from our many officials who are in constant exchange,” said Barbara Novak, MA, state party secretary of the SPÖ Vienna at the end of a successful 77th state party conference in 2024 of the SPÖ Vienna. “As Viennese we have social democracy “Today we not only demonstrated the diversity of our movement, but also sent a strong and united signal to Europe.”
The key motion “We in Vienna are shaping Europe” was unanimously approved. With it, the Viennese Social Democrats are setting the course for a fair Europe. The central themes of the key motion are the expansion of comprehensive education and opportunities for Europe’s youth, securing European health care, and good work as well as working conditions, equality policy and affordable housing and social housing, where Vienna has proven its pioneering role for years.
In addition to the key proposal, many other groundbreaking resolutions were passed. For example, with the motion from trade unionists in the SPÖ with clear demands and commitments to employee rights such as a reduction in working hours, a sixth week of vacation, a fair wage policy and basic social security. The women’s organization’s applications highlight, among other things, the federal government’s failures when it comes to women’s policy and call for more resources for protection and prevention of violence.
On the overwhelming election result of the state party chairman, Mayor Dr. The state party secretary congratulated Michael Ludwig and his Viennese team: “Congratulations to Mayor Dr. Michael Ludwig and his team to the great election success! All Viennese can trust in their mayor – in politics with responsibility – and therefore in real measures for a good, affordable life. Today we have set the course together for the social democratic Viennese path of the future. The SPÖ is the guarantee for an affordable and livable Vienna. This will continue to be the case in the future. Together we will resolutely continue on the Vienna path,” concluded Novak.
