Austria needs a strong, united and social Europe instead of Öxit fantasies and contacts with Russia
Vienna (OTS) – SPÖ-EU top candidate Andreas Schieder explains after the ORF press hour with FPÖ-EU top candidate Harald Vilimsky that the FPÖ lacks any vision for Europe: “FPÖ and Vilimsky, with their diction, are the enemies of Europe and therefore the enemies of our homeland .” It is clear that Austria needs a strong, united and social Europe in order to overcome the current challenges – inflation, climate change and war. The FPÖ’s ÖXIT fantasies are a great harm to Austria. The FPÖ is thus turning itself into an anti-homeland party. “We are the real home party because we stand up for social cohesion and a fair Austria and Europe,” says Schieder.****
Vilimsky’s relativization of close contacts with Putin is completely unbelievable: “The FPÖ are Putin’s helpers and they can be found everywhere in Europe. They are the gateway for misinformation that threatens our democracy. We have to stop this.”
The FPÖ’s involvement in espionage allegations is a threat. Schieder says: “FPÖ, Orban, AfD and their right-wing partners in Europe are waging a campaign against democracy and freedom. We must protect these European and Austrian pillars against their enemies.”
Vilimsky’s attempts to advocate neutrality are also completely unbelievable, especially since the FPÖ has vehemently spoken out in favor of joining NATO in the past. “Especially in times of war, it would be a fatal mistake to undermine neutrality, because Austria’s neutrality means standing on the side of peace, freedom, democracy and human rights. There is only a clear commitment to this with the SPÖ,” explains Schieder. (End) bad
