People want political change – social democracy can score points with its issues – red card for ÖVP and black and blue
Vienna (OTS/SK) – “We congratulate the SPÖ Salzburg on their impressive result. You can see: The people in Salzburg want a political change,” said SPÖ federal manager Klaus Seltenheim to the SPÖ press service on Sunday. “The fact that the SPÖ has made it to first place in the city of Salzburg and that our mayoral candidate Bernhard Auinger is the first in the runoff election shows that the SPÖ in the city and state of Salzburg is confident that it can solve the problems of the people of Salzburg – whether “It’s about housing, health care or the future of Salzburg,” says Seltenheim, who is particularly pleased that the SPÖ state leader David Egger was able to “turn his home community of Neumarkt am Wallersee from black to red” and also at is ahead in the mayoral runoff election in two weeks. ****
The SPÖ federal manager is also pleased with the results of the SPÖ in other municipalities in Salzburg. In addition to Neumarkt am Wallersee, Seltenheim also cites Straßwalchen as examples, where SPÖ mayor Tanja Kreer was able to gain 40 percent and is now at 79 percent in the mayoral election, but also Sankt Johann, where Evi Huber is in the runoff election or the sensational result in Mattsee, where the SPÖ was able to more than double and Mayor Michael Schwarzmayr was able to achieve almost 97 percent despite opposing candidates.
“The people of Salzburg have shown the ÖVP and Black-Blue the red card. Nobody trusts them to have a constructive political style. Because black and blue means: polarization, division and no improvements in people’s lives,” explains Seltenheim. (End) up
