SPÖ-Reisinger: “AUSTRIAL SUCCATION makes Austria safer!”
Vienna (OTS) –

“Alleged terrorists and spies no longer communicate via calls or SMS. Our executive therefore needs modern and effective security instruments to combat terrorism and espionage. The danger monitoring is not a panacea, but it can better protect us from threats,” said Dominik Reisinger, SPÖ security spokesman in today’s debate in the Federal Council. The surveillance is targeted and is strictly controlled. “It is the opposite of the mass monitoring fantasies of the FPÖ,” said Reisinger. ****

Among other things, a prerequisite for the use is that all of the remedies have already been exhausted, the person concerned was classified as a threat and there is a serious crime with at least ten years of punishment. In addition, every monitoring is limited, must be approved by an independent three-judge senate and monitored by the legal protection officer. Reisinger also emphasized parliamentary control: With more than 30 applications per year, the National Council had to be informed that technical details and costs had to be reported to the subcommittee for internal affairs. Also professional secretary: inside like journalist: inside or pastor: inside would be particularly protected.

Reisinger fell sharply about the FPÖ, which voted against monitoring threats: “In principle, the FPÖ is against everything – without offering viable alternatives. It refuses solutions and operates destructive mood.” Especially in times of growing radicalization tendencies, however, no populist slogans need, but concrete, responsible security work.

“This measure brings Austria on an equal footing with today’s threats. We pay attention to the fundamental rights and ensure transparency,” concludes Reisinger. (Conclusion) MF/BJ
