SPÖ calls for NAP against hate, no tolerance for insults against LGBTIQ people
Vienna (OTS/SK) – “In 2024, every person in Austria must have the security of being able to openly show on the street who they are and who they love,” emphasizes SPÖ equal treatment spokesman Mario Lindner the day after the demonstration on the International Day against LGBTIQ hostility in Vienna , “The fact that people are confronted with hostility, shouts of ‘shitty dick’ and right-wing extremist hostility at a demonstration against LGBTIQ hostility is completely unacceptable!” Lindner is referring to a whole series of insults that participants received at the Vienna IDAHOBIT demonstration last night: Witnesses report insults, offensive insults and passers-by (sic!) who spat on demo participants. ****
For Lindner one thing is certain: “At the beginning of the PRIDE Season 2024 it must be clear: Nobody in Austria should have to be afraid of showing their own identity! Politicians must finally do everything to ensure that hate and discrimination in all areas of life are a thing of the past – we need a national action plan against hate and a clear commitment from all public institutions to stand up against hatred and exclusion!” (Conclusion) up
