SPÖ club chairman Fürst: “Burgenland’s future care plan as a role model for Austria”

Eisenstadt (OTS) In a current report, the Court of Auditors identifies a significant need for action in the area of care and criticizes the ÖVP-Green Federal Government for not having implemented key recommendations so far and for problems – such as the lack of staff – to have worsened since 2020. Former Caritas President Michael Landau speaks of a “care catastrophe” and that there would be a shortage of between 75,000 and 100,000 nursing staff in Austria by 2030. “The federal government has made a total failure in the area of care, which is at the expense of the people who are confronted with care. Our ‘Future Care Plan’ could be rolled out immediately across Austria with adaptations. Through many measures, such as the employment model for caring relatives With the establishment of 71 care bases in 28 regions, Burgenland and Governor Hans Peter Doskozil are showing how care can be organized in the interests of those affected,” explains the SPÖ club chairman of Burgenland and social spokesman Roland Fürst.

The future care plan contains 21 measures, was created on the basis of several studies and serves as the basis for needs and development planning from 2018 to 2030 in Burgenland. “The Burgenland care model is generating great interest nationally and internationally because we are not afraid to take new paths in the interests of those affected. Most recently, the employment model for caring relatives was evaluated and expanded to include trusted persons. The relatives receive the minimum wage of €2,000 net month and are fully covered by social security. So far, around 500 caring relatives have taken advantage of this opportunity, but the federal government provides caring relatives with a care bonus of €1,500 per year,” criticizes Fürst.
