Government doesn’t say a word about the sale – Nehammer should reverse the sale of the Vamed shares
Vienna (OTS/SK) – SPÖ federal party leader Andreas Babler sharply criticizes the withdrawal of the state holding company ÖBAG from Vamed AG: “It is a scandal that the government is not saying a word about.” Accordingly, Vamed is selling its rehabilitation division to the financial investor PAI Partners. This affects 97 Vamed holdings in rehabilitation clinics, care facilities, therapy and rheumatism centers, some also specifically for children. “With the sale of the Vamed shares, the rehabilitation facilities will finally be lost to private investors,” said the SPÖ leader, and continued: “Something like this should be banned. There are areas from which profit must not be made. Of course, this includes care and healthcare,” the party leader told the SPÖ press service today, Friday. ****
Like Governor Doskozil, Babler also demands that Nehammer must act and reverse the sale of the Vamed shares: “The black-green government has already caused great damage to our health system,” warns Babler, referring, for example, to the long waiting times for important examinations . “If our healthcare system is sold to private investors, there are a lot of things going wrong in our country. Two-tier medicine makes care a question of income and privatization is progressing. No business should be made with health and care!” says Babler. Nehammer must hold Finance Minister Brunner accountable and reverse the sale. The SPÖ is also demanding clarification through a parliamentary question. “A few are making big money while jobs and our supplies are being destroyed,” warns the party leader.
In contrast to the government, the SPÖ is committed to rebuilding and securing the health system. “We want the legal right to a treatment appointment within 14 days and will legally anchor this appointment guarantee in Austria with a treatment security law. This requires hearts and brains and a social democratic government. Only a strong SPÖ can prevent blue-black and thus the final destruction of our health system,” concluded the SPÖ leader. (End) lp
