“Preventing a shift to the right is possible – in France as well as in Austria”
Vienna (OTS/SK) – “I am pleased about the surprising victory of the left-wing alliance in France. Congratulations to the New Front Populaire alliance! Once again it has been shown today that the right can be stopped,” said SP party leader Andreas Babler in response to the first projections for the parliamentary elections in France.
“Contrary to all surveys, today it has once again been shown that the right can be stopped. “The French showed with a clear vote today that there is no majority for the right-wing politics of Marie Le Pen’s Rassemblement National party and that they do not want a France of isolation and exclusion,” said Babler.
“Right-wing politics do not solve any problems, this applies to France as well as to Austria. The left-wing alliance has focused on the issues of health, education and affordable living and has received enormous support with its demands such as an increase in the minimum wage, price controls for food and affordable housing. I am convinced that it can also be possible in Austria to prevent a right-wing government and to improve people’s living conditions again with an SP-led government. As Social Democrats, we stand for a future of hope and prospects. I wish France a lot of strength and success in the upcoming coalition formation,” concluded the party leader.
