The recent media reports draw a clear picture: the haphazard growth of the city and Vienna’s role as a social welfare magnet for Austria exacerbates the problems in the capital. “SPÖ and NEOS only watch – their government agreement ran on endless evaluations instead of real reforms,” said the party chairman of the ÖVP Vienna, Markus Figl, and the club chairman of the Wiener ÖVP, Harald Zierfuß.
The alleged educational party Neos drives the Viennese school system to the wall: shortly before the start of school, 240 teachers are still missing – this corresponds to ten whole schools. Container classes have long been sad reality, and their number continues. The fact that around half of the first graders do not understand their teachers is an alarming signal – Vienna’s position as a social welfare magnet will continue to exacerbate.
“The blind flight must finally be ended in particular in the field of education so that the children of this city have real future opportunities again. The growing problems in the city are also a direct consequence of the haphazard growth of the past few years. SPÖ and NEOS have no plan for the future of this city, and are only looking as a standalone,” says Figl and Zierfuß. “
