Vienna, August 26, 2024 – Every pot has a lid. Under this motto, the WK Vienna launched the event format of the same name. Specific goal: to match companies that are due to be handed over with potential successors and franchisors with franchisees. “A total of 65 companies from almost all Vienna districts and sectors such as gastronomy, retail, mechatronics, confectionery, handicrafts and hairdressers will be on site at the event and introduce themselves to potential takeovers and franchisees. The aim is to pass established Viennese companies into the next entrepreneurial hands,” explains Clemens Schmidgruber, chairman of the Junge Wirtschaft Wien and spokesman for the Viennese founders and successors. Specific offers can be discussed in structured discussions lasting 15 minutes each.
Taking over pays off
Although many people do not yet have the option of taking over a business on their radar, such as setting up a new company, practice shows that a company succession has many advantages. “One of the biggest advantages is that a large customer base is handed over,” says Schmidgruber. In addition, the bureaucratic effort is lower than with new companies. The success rates also speak in favor of a business succession. A study by SME Research Austria shows that most companies develop well economically after the handover. “61 percent of the companies have been able to achieve an increase in sales since the handover. A business takeover is a great opportunity to get off to a flying start as an entrepreneur. You often also benefit from the know-how of the transferor and quickly find your way to success,” says Schmidgruber and appeals to those interested: “Register, come along – take over a Viennese business and become an entrepreneur!”

Immediately after registering, participants can take a first look at the various providers and also register for exploratory discussions with up to five companies. They can exchange ideas with them personally, network in a targeted manner and set the course for a successful future.
