Zell am See-Kaprun (OTS) As the new initiator, Zell am See-Kaprun Tourismus organized the from May 8th to 12th Ski&Golf World Championship. Athletes from over eleven nations took part and showed their skills both on the Kitzsteinhorn and on the leading golf course, Golfclub Zell am See-Kaprun.

Around 130 athletes from over 11 nations opened the World Cup with the giant ski slalom on the Kitzsteinhorn. From Friday onwards the event moved from the racing track to the Leading Golf Course Zell am See-Kaprun, where precision and tactical skills were required. Here, against a spectacular backdrop, the title was at stake.

THE NEW WORLD CHAMPIONS

Die Ski & Golf World Champion 2024 be called Antje Heissel from Germany for women and Fabian Gola from Switzerland in the men’s category, who was able to defend his title from last year. Among the best Austrians were local hero Alexander Heitzmann in sixth place and amateur Sabine Kienesberger-Feist in tenth place; she started as the winner of the ÖGV competition. The Belgian and active ski racer Sam Maes won the title of runner-up world champion. He trains both disciplines regularly in his adopted home town of Zell am See-Kaprun.

SPORT & TALK SUPPORTING PROGRAM

In addition to the opening ceremony, the event was accompanied by an expert talk on Friday evening at the Zell am See-Kaprun Golf Club. Here the two ski World Cup racers Stefan Brennsteiner and the 25-year-old Olympian Sam Maes, as well as Artur Frank (Head Physio DP World Tour and Ryder Cup Team Europe) and the former German biathlete, Olympic champion and world champion Ricco Groß gave insights into the complexity of this sports combination. A BBQ dinner including Players’ Night rounded off the World Cup.
