Campaign start of the Socialist Youth Austria & Upper Austria in Linz
Linz (OTS) – “Regardless of whether in education, climate or inflation policy: young people living in Austria have been consistently let down by politics for years. The right-wing and conservative political forces are primarily to blame for this: Instead of working on solutions to the problems of our time, they constantly give us young people political rejections and pseudo-explanations about everything that is not possible. As Socialist Youth, we are firmly against these policies of the past because: We are too young for this shit!
“, said Paul Stich, chairman of the SJ Austria and Eva Reiter, regional chairman of the SJ Upper Austria, at the start of the SJ’s “We are too young for this shit!” campaign in Linz.
With this campaign, the Socialist Youth will be traveling across the country in the coming weeks and months to point out the dangers of old-fashioned politics: “The ÖVP and FPÖ engage in a consistent denial of reality by simply ignoring the problems we face.
We see this in the education sector, for example: against all evidence, right-wing parties want to maintain German language classes or continue to stop the introduction of comprehensive schools. They show the same blocking attitude when it comes to bringing our school qualifications such as the Matura into the 21st century. We oppose this type of politics!” said Stich
Reiter concludes by emphasizing that a decisive anti-fascist policy is needed more urgently than ever: “Herbert Kickl is not at all interested in the concerns of the people in this country. As past scandals show, the FPÖ is only interested in coming to power in order to then presumably enrich itself.
There is also right-wing extremist rhetoric and anti-democratic statements. But in reality, the FPÖ just wants to cover up what we all know: that their policies only serve the top one percent in this country. With this campaign we want to declare war on both the shift to the right and this rich fat cat politics!” concluded Reiter.
