FPÖ National Council MP Tina Angela Berger practices the lack of transparency of the Federal Government in connection with the creation of the national action plan against violence against women and girls. A corresponding request from the freedom to the SPÖ Federal Minister for Women, Family, Integration and Media Holzleitner for the concrete composition of the responsible committee was insufficiently answered.
“The fact that the minister does not want to disclose who specifically work on the action plan throws a bad light on the entire process,” said Berger. “Especially with such a sensitive and important topic as prevention of violence, transparency is essential.”
In their parliamentary request, Berger wanted to receive detailed information about the experts involved and their professional backgrounds and selection criteria. According to Berger, the minister’s refusal to provide this information is not only questionable, but also the suspicion that party political or ideological motives could be behind the occupation of the body.
“If you want to seriously devote yourself to the protection of women, then you have to be ready to work openly and to present professional quality before ideological complacency,” emphasizes Berger. “With secrecy, the minister undermines confidence in government measures – and we simply cannot afford that in this topic,” emphasized Berger.
