„Wolves have not been a threatened animal species for a long time and this is a success for species protection. The lowering of protection status has already been decided by majority in the Bern Convention. Living with wolves is still characterized by major challenges in alpic and agriculture and above all put pressure on traditional alp and pasture economy in Austria, which is an important factor for the high biodiversity of alpine regions.
Hunting Austria has been calling for a regulated management of the large-scale carpentry and a corresponding change in the FFH directive in order to be able to remove striking wolves more easily and thus to alleviate the conflicts in the alp, pasture and agriculture. “”Federal Minister Norbert Tettschnig has paved the way for this milestone in species and nature conservation with continuous subject work.
