ÖVP-Greens motion regarding a federal law that changes the childcare allowance law
Vienna (OTS) – “By increasing the additional earnings limit while receiving childcare allowance, we want to ensure that those entitled to benefits can continue to work in part-time employment during their parental leave in 2024.” This was said today, Monday, by ÖVP family spokesman Abg. Norbert Sieber at the meeting of the family committee. An ÖVP-Green initiative proposal for adjustments to the childcare allowance law envisages increasing the current limit for income-dependent childcare allowance or flat-rate childcare allowance from 7,800 to 8,100 euros annually.
The amendment should come into force on January 1, 2024. The amendment will neither lead to additional costs nor reduced expenses, as parents adapt to the respective additional income limit in order to be able to receive childcare allowance or to avoid any reclaims.
Another application deals with people displaced from Ukraine in the federal territory. Their entitlement to childcare allowance and family allowance will also be extended until March 4, 2025 – it was originally planned to last until a maximum of March 4, 2024. (Ending)
