Vienna (OTS/SK) – Today the judge in the trial against former Chancellor Kurz (ÖVP) answered the question in the first instance as to whether Kurz knowingly made his objectively false statement in the Ibiza U Committee and whether an intention to deceive can be proven beyond a doubt. Today’s proceedings ended with a guilty verdict for ex-Chancellor Kurz and co-defendant ex-cabinet head Bonelli. “This is rather a smaller venue for the legal analysis of the Kurz system,” says Jan Krainer, SPÖ parliamentary group leader in the current Cofag-U committee and in the last two U-committees (Ibiza, ÖVP corruption). “The ‘Kurst era’ will keep the courts busy for years to come.” The other pending suspicions are serious (the presumption of innocence applies). ****
“The judiciary is responsible for the legal assessment,” says Krainer. Politicians should hold back. (End) wf/up
