In the meantime, the original rating of the HDI insurance of “A” was highly stamped by the rating agency S&P Global Ratings on “A+” (Strong) with a stable view. The background is that the Talanx rating of the first insurance group on rating “AA-” (very strong) was increased in early 2025. HDI insurance was also upgraded as a strategically important company in the Talanx Group.

New establishment sales and digital resilience

The HDI Versicherung used the year 2024 strategically to prepare for future developments and challenges. The establishment of a central sales department uses the common potential of private and company business even more efficiently. At the same time, the sales regions in Austria were restructured.

“With the new sales schedule, we rely on synergies in retail and industrial sect to offer our sales partners: inside and customers: Interior to offer optimal service. Shortly after the changeover, our decision is confirmed because we were able to make the internal processes more efficient,” says HDI CEO Ing. Thomas Lackner.

An essential step in the digitization strategy of HDI was the implementation of the digital operational resilience act (Dora) in 2024. By revising internal processes and expanding governance, HDI Versicherung AG is prepared for the new legal requirements and can further expand its operational resilience. Areas of application for artificial intelligence were created as measures for digitization and data exchange via the interface standard OMDS 3.0 was optimized.

CO2 savings and sustainability reporting

Environmental protection and sustainability have a high priority at HDI. In 2024, the energy and fuel consumption for buildings and fleet was reduced and the energy generation of the photovoltaic systems in Vienna was significantly increased. By switching the fleet to electric vehicles, around 3,000 liters of fuel or around 10.9 tons of CO2 equivalent were saved. The photovoltaic system on the roof of the HDI headquarters in Vienna produced so much electricity that excess energy could be fed into the network. The goal of reducing CO2 intensity by 30% compared to 2019 by 2025 was clearly exceeded.

In 2024, HDI implemented the corporate sustainability reporting directive (CSRD). This EU directive regulates the sustainability reporting of companies. Through additional processes and controls for quality assurance, HDI has taken an important step in order to further strengthen the high priority of sustainability in the company through transparent reporting.
