“What traffic councilor Ulli Sima is planning again is nothing more than a completely unrealistic driver chicane,” criticizes the district party chairman of the FPÖ-Leopoldstadt and Viennese member of the state parliament Wolfgang Seidl, criticizing the planned driving ban for the Meierestrasse in the area of ​​the Prater.

“The volume of traffic in this section is extremely low, Saturday and Sunday already applies a driving ban – the purpose of this measure is a mystery,” says Seidl. “Instead of taking care of real traffic problems in the city, the SPÖ invents new bans where none is needed.”

The fact that a broad bike path is directly parallel to Meierestrasse is particularly absurd: “The excuse that you want to protect the bicycle traffic is drawn on the hair. Nobody is endangered here – once again only the car is declared an enemy image.”

“Older people, families with children or people with mobility restrictions are dependent on the car. But these groups apparently no longer count for the SPÖ,” says Seidl, angered.

“The Meiereistrasse is not a race track, but part of an inner -city local recreation area that has to remain available to everyone – even by car,” concludes Seidl. “The FPÖ will face this nonsensical measure with all the might.”
