Science Center Lower Austria officially opened in Tulln

Science Center Lower Austria officially opened in Tulln
Tulln. (OTS) –

The Science Center Lower Austria in Tulln was ceremoniously opened as part of a ceremony. Since the house opened in February 2023, school classes and families have regularly attended workshops on the first floor of the House of Digitalization to learn more about the latest digital technologies and to try them out. Almost 4,000 people have taken advantage of these offers so far and attended practical events with a focus on 3D printing, laser cutting or virtual reality. In order to introduce more inquisitive young people to scientific work in the future, the existing offering has been revised and expanded. “Whoever shapes science shapes the future of Lower Austria. In our new Science Center, science and research can be experienced by all age groups. This is important because progress deserves trust and not skepticism. “I want to make science recognizable and tangible for everyone, because it provides answers to current questions and prepares us for the challenges of the future,” says LH deputy Dr. Stephan Pernkopf.

Starting in November, exciting workshops for schools will be offered in the new “Biotechnology” laboratory in the new Science Center, which will make the interface between modern research and practice tangible. From molecular biology experiments to the art of separation of chromatography, visitors have the opportunity to delve deeply into the world of biotechnology.

The Science Center’s escape room “The Secret of the Elixir” is all about a groundbreaking discovery. An aspiring biotechnologist invites you to an open day in her laboratory. Will the visitors be able to uncover the secret of the elixir or will things turn out differently? The teams can expect a breathtaking journey into new worlds that would not be thought possible in modern biotechnology. Skill, speed and a quick comprehension are required. During a game duration of 60 minutes, up to seven players can race against time.

Birgit Herbinger, head of the Biotechnical Processes and Biotechnology & Analytics degree programs at the FH Wiener Neustadt, is enthusiastic about the new possibilities: “I am very pleased that the expansion of the ‘Science Center’ in the House of Digitalization creates a content-related bridge to the Technopol Tulln Campus, where over 1,200 people work in biotechnology, and the Bachelor and Master degree programs offered by the FHWN at the Tulln Biotech Campus.”

The content of the existing “Digital Technologies” laboratory will also be expanded. Visitors can expect exciting workshops on topics such as “Telling exciting stories with artificial intelligence”, “Tinkering – experimenting and crafting” or “Mini Movies: Bringing animations to life”. All offers can be booked via sciencecenter.noe.gv.at.
