Satire – new text collection by Michael Bittner: Waiting room Earth

The friendly and neatly parted man is known to a larger public as a lecturer on several reading stages. But we have to understand the satirist, narrator and glossy writer Michael Bittner, born in 1980, who, although he grew up in Saxony, understands something of humor and who, as an author, also works for this newspaper, especially as a great humanist.

His guiding star is reason, the foundation of his thinking forms science. Bittner does not believe in God or esotericism or other frills, but in human rights and freedom of art. He knows that it is currently poorly ordered around the world and people, and yet he does not despise, but is fighting for a better, sensible society. Against racism, for example, he has found a convincing means: “My advice to everyone who feels overdue in their homeland: it is best to get rid of strangers by getting to know them.”

The findings that arise from his observations and considerations and in which he lets us participate are often of great wisdom. He writes about the supposed differences between city life and provincial existence: “Whoever had the opportunity to get to know both land and the big city in his life knows that only different types of human stupidity rule in the different places.” Who wanted to contradict him? Elsewhere, he reports on a train journey that he completes as a passenger of the first class and the people he encountered. This experience also leads to important new findings: “What is there more disgusting than the good mood of strangers?”

In general, regular train trips seem to contribute to the fact that he develops a fresh look at things, not only when it comes to his fellow human beings, but also in terms of landscapes in which they are forced to live. When crossing the southeastern realms of Germany, which he himself comes from, he notes: “The train back to Berlin drives a two -hour diversion through areas that work as if they have not yet been recorded on any card.”

But even if Bittner does not travel through inhospitable or bleak areas or hits unpleasant laughing or senselessly fun people, but simply stands still and immobile and thinks about being, in the end, clever thoughts come out: »Isn’t all life – waiting for death? And the earth is the waiting room in which we stay until the end is there? However, it takes a while. That is why we set up in the waiting room. “

Bittner is, as you can see quickly when you read your texts, a thinker, a seer, a philosopher. But he draws his sound knowledge about the nature of existence not only from casual personally experienced and everyday observations. In addition to interesting travel reports and philosophical considerations, educational reports also come from Bittner’s feather, in which he captures the extraordinary certain situations with great linguistic sensitivity. For example, think of his report from the concert of a well -known German punk band: “There is a strangely upgraded and exuberant atmosphere, as is the case on a children’s birthday in which double grain is served.”

Or, for example, the impressive portrait of a man who has tried in vain to be excluded from the SPD for seventeen years and who, despite his efforts, does not want to succeed. Bittner visited him in his home and lets him speak personally: »I briefly had the idea of having a swastika tattooed on my forehead. But I’m no longer sure whether that would be enough to fly from the SPD. «

Another peculiarity of the author Bittner is that he, whom one can describe as convinced undogmatic left, is not afraid to make fun of the quirks and bullets of a thoughtful left. And with that he really belongs to a vanishingly small minority.
