On December 31st, Vienna’s city center will once again be transformed into the largest New Year’s Eve party in the country. The popular Vienna New Year’s Eve Trail is being celebrated for the 33rd time, with around 800,000 visitors expected. 50 rescue and emergency paramedics as well as six emergency doctors from the Samaritan Association ensure the safety of guests from all over the world in order to be able to help quickly and professionally in medical emergencies. The operation is led by the Leopoldstadt Samaritan Association group, which receives active support from other Samaritan Association groups in carrying out the medical service.
Four ambulance stations: Stephansplatz, Neuer Markt, Am Hof and Rathausplatz
This year, seven ambulances and two emergency medical vehicles from the Samaritan Association will be available for quick transport until the end of the event at 2:00 a.m. In addition, four ambulance stations at central locations – Stephansplatz, Neuer Markt, Am Hof and Rathausplatz – will be set up as contact points for sick or injured people.
“We are well equipped to provide medical care to those celebrating. Our experiences over the past few years show that visitors to the New Year’s Eve Trail behave responsibly and disciplined. Despite the numerous guests expected from all over the world, we are looking forward to a quiet commitment for our employees this year too,” says Helmut Niessner, Samaritan Association operations manager for the New Year’s Eve Trail.
A big thank you to all the rescue workers who are on duty on New Year’s Eve and whose commitment ensures that others can celebrate carefree and safely!
