The Max Grundig Klinik Bühlerhöhe and Sea Cloud Cruises are combining their expertise in health and wellness to create a new travel format. On board the Sea Cloud Spirit, the two companies will jointly offer guests “the best of both worlds” in terms of healthy nutrition, mindfulness, mental fitness and regeneration. At the start of the cooperation, the head physiotherapist of the Max Grundig Clinic, Matthias Zehnle, will accompany the travelers on board the three-masted full-sized ship on the journey from Porto to the Azores (July 29 to August 4, 2024).
The connecting element between the clinic and the shipping company consists of a clear principle: “For us, the focus is on people and their well-being,” agree the two managing directors Andreas Spaetgens (Max Grundig Klinik) and Daniel Schäfer (Sea Cloud Cruises). As one of the leading German private clinics, the Max Grundig Clinic is focused on holistic health care for its patients; Sea Cloud Cruises promotes the well-being of its guests through the relaxing atmosphere on board the Sea Clouds as well as through a wide range of offers relating to wellness, fitness and well-being.
“We want to strengthen the health of our guests not only through the best medical diagnostics and care, but also through a feel-good atmosphere and the appropriate ambience during their stay with us,” emphasizes Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Dr. hc Manfred Zehnder, medical director of the Max Grundig Clinic. “This basic understanding corresponds to the importance that the well-being of guests has for Sea Cloud Cruises.” Both companies also operate at the same high level in many other respects, such as the culinary offerings, service and the design of the environment, and address the same target group: “For this reason alone, a cooperation was obvious,” is the conviction of the two managing directors.
In the first step of the cooperation, the Max Grundig Clinic will contribute to certain trips on the Sea Cloud Spirit with an additional offer. This includes, among other things, an expanded range of physiotraining, as the lead physiotherapist Matthias Zehnle will present during the inaugural trip. On future trips, leading doctors from the Max Grundig Clinic will impart comprehensive knowledge on current topics from the entire health sector on board. The guests on these trips also have exclusive and direct access to the expertise of the Max Grundig Clinic if they later want information, advice or support in prevention, analysis and therapy.
The cooperation between both companies also includes cooperation on detailed issues. For example, the experts from the Max Grundig Clinic advise the Sea Cloud Spirit’s chefs on the topic of healthy eating – there will be certified components and menus on both the breakfast buffet and the dinner menu in the ship’s fine dining restaurant. In addition, the experienced team of the wellness and spa area on the Sea Cloud Spirit is trained by the specialists from the Max Grundig Clinic.
The collaboration with the Max Grundig Clinic is one of Sea Cloud Cruises’ concepts to address target groups such as the 50plus generation with new programs. “Health has long been a lifestyle issue that is as important to younger people as enjoyment and the feeling of treating yourself,” Daniel Schäfer is convinced. Sea Cloud Cruises had already introduced new themed trips around regeneration and well-being under the title “Pit Stop for Life”.
The trips now developed with the Max Grundig Clinic “are also part of our strategy to offer our guests personal added value beyond the actual trip that they cannot otherwise find on the travel market,” emphasizes Daniel Schäfer. Exclusive travel experiences have now become a trademark of the Hamburg shipping company. Just a few weeks ago, Sea Cloud Cruises presented the “Songs’N’Sail” program, an extraordinary sailing trip into the lifestyle of the Caribbean and the music of the 1980s, which was influential for the 50-plus generation.
