Design star Stefan Sagmeister thrilled guests and the media at ice Q in Sölden, and the kitchen crew did the same
Optimism and a positive attitude do something to us. They are always worthwhile because they sometimes massively improve the chances of our projects succeeding
Stefan Sagmeister, communication designer
Sölden (OTS) – Under the motto “Dinner of the Arts” the finissage for the celebrated exhibition “Better and Better” by design icon Stefan Sagmeister took place on the evening of April 2nd, 2024 on the Gaislachkogl in Sölden. The Bergbahnen Sölden and Ötztal Tourismus invited guests to an evening of multiple enjoyment, which not only attracted local art lovers, but also international media representatives and personalities from the fields of tourism, culture and the hotel industry.
The path to the summit was already impressive: guests from all over Tyrol and beyond came at the invitation of the Sölden mountain railways to listen to Sagmeister’s remarks as part of a “Dinner of the Arts” in the ice Q gourmet restaurant. Host Jakob Falkner, managing director of Bergbahnen Sölden, Philipp Falkner, authorized representative of Bergbahnen Sölden, and Oliver Schwarz, managing director of Ötztal Tourismus, welcomed the artist and an illustrious hundred of guests who paid their respects to the successful Austrian in exile at this special place. Curator Julia Sparber-Ablinger gave the laudatory speech Stefan Sagmeister, who was enthusiastic about the unusual location for his work: “I don’t usually know such a view in such a unique place as a setting for my exhibitions. This place is unique even here in the Alpine region.” Praised and welcomed in this way Philip Falkner the Grammy award winner and his audience on behalf of the hosts: “The collaboration with Stefan Sagmeister and the opportunity to present his works high above the peaks of the Ötztal mountains were a special highlight for us. The fact that we can now conclude his exhibition as part of this finissage as a ‘Dinner of the Arts’ here at the iceQ is the crowning glory of the ‘peak of optimism’.”
Art, culture, cuisine: an evening at the Gaislachkogl becomes a total work of art
Artists such as Hannah Philomena Scheiber, Claudia Haas and Alexander Lohmann were equally impressed by Sagmeister’s lecture, as were the international media representatives on site. Julia Sparber-Ablinger: “I call him ‘master’ because Stefan Sagmeister is a masterful person, and not just because of his art. It is his encouraging commitment and his positive view of the world that inspire and excite us.” Executives from tourism, culture and the hotel industry took note of the cleverly designed multi-media presentation on “Better and Better” as did a number of entrepreneurs and companies from the region and beyond. The atmosphere was characterized by a sense of optimism and inspiration as guests received Sagmeister’s humorous yet very serious message of hope and progress in a changing world. “Optimism and a positive attitude do something to us. They are always worthwhile because they sometimes massively improve the chances of our projects succeeding
“, is the conclusion of the Vorarlberg native. The culinary experience at ice Q was almost as unforgettable as the art presentation itself. The restaurant’s dedicated team created an outstanding menu at 3,000 meters above sea level that delighted the guests and pampered their taste buds. Conclusion: A successful event at the invitation of the Sölden mountain railways and Ötztal Tourismus, which turned the conclusion of the exhibition “Better and Better” into a total work of art.
